Land Rover BAR skipper Sir Ben Ainslie praised his team’s thousands of supporters ahead of the second day of America’s Cup racing in the Solent.
Sir Ben took to the stage this morning to a raucous applause from his home support.
He said: ‘I just want to say a huge thank you to everybody for coming down today. It’s great to see all of you here today.’
His team are well-backed today with supporters descending on Portsmouth from all across the country.
Martin Appleton, 71, from Newbury, Berkshire had previously seen America’s Cup action in Valencia but he thought the atmosphere was ‘much better’ down on the South Coast.
He said: ‘It’s very pleasant down here. There’s a lovely atmosphere and we can really close to the action so it’s much better.
